In Sumter, South Carolina, a Friday afternoon dispute tragically escalated, leading to the death of 45-year-old Jermaine Williams, a Black male. On August 19, 2016, an argument erupted between Williams and a man identified as 74-year-old Nathan 'Smoot' McBride at McBride's home on Council Street.
