In a quiet neighborhood in Northeast Richland, the life of 24-year-old Magaiteh Jacqueline Dolo was tragically cut short on a summer day. On the morning of Saturday, August 27, 2016, deputies responded to a call and discovered a grim scene on Brandon Hall Road. Magaiteh was found deceased inside the home she shared with her father, while her 55-year-old father, Dunber Dolo, was found lying in the front lawn of a neighboring residence.
Both had succumbed to gunshot wounds to the upper body.
The investigation quickly pointed to a history of domestic troubles. Authorities identified Magaiteh's ex-boyfriend, 25-year-old Willie Jerome Wilson, as the primary suspect. According to the Richland County Sheriff's Department, the violent encounter was the culmination of an ongoing domestic dispute. Investigators believe Wilson forced his way into the home through a rear door before fatally shooting both Magaiteh and her father. Following the incident, Wilson allegedly fled the scene, stealing Magaiteh's car and cellphone. This was not the first time law enforcement had been involved in disputes between the former couple. A previous domestic violence call had been made in January of the same year, though no charges were filed at the time.
A search for Wilson ensued, with the Richland County Sheriff's Department asking for the public's help in locating him. The following day, on Sunday afternoon, the U.S. Marshals Service and the Richland County Sheriff's Department Task Force apprehended Willie Jerome Wilson at an acquaintance's home on Screaming Eagle Road Extension. He was taken into custody without incident and subsequently charged with two counts of murder, first-degree burglary, and armed robbery. Following his arrest, a judge denied him bond on the armed robbery charge, with the bond for the murder and burglary charges to be set in General Sessions court.
Magaiteh, who was born in Staten Island, New York, had moved to Columbia, South Carolina with her family at a young age. She was a graduate of North East Side High School and had taken courses at Midlands Technical College. Described as having a sweet and generous spirit, she worked closely with her father in managing his businesses. Friends remembered her as a quiet but goofy and loving person who was cherished by many.
