In the fading daylight of a November evening in Goose Creek, South Carolina, the life of 20-year-old Nicholas Bradley Valentine was cut tragically short. On November 29, 2016, the young man was fatally shot while sitting in his vehicle at an apartment complex. A female companion in the car with him was also wounded in the attack but survived.
The investigation into the shooting, led by the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office, initially resulted in the arrest of two men.
However, the path to justice proved to be complex. The charges against both suspects were ultimately dismissed. Reports indicated that the female witness provided conflicting accounts of the events that transpired, which complicated the prosecution's case.
In the years following his son's death, Nicholas's father, Paul Valentine, has continued to seek answers and justice.
