In the early morning hours of December 4, 2016, the life of 29-year-old Brandon Jamar Goodson, a Black male, was tragically cut short in Columbia, South Carolina. Deputies from the Richland County Sheriff's Department were dispatched to the apartment complex at 3611 Ranch Road, where they discovered Goodson's body. He was found leaning against the wall of an apartment building, having sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
The initial investigation by the Richland County Sheriff's Department
treated Goodson's death as a homicide. Despite their efforts, no suspects were immediately identified, and no arrests were made in the days and weeks that followed. The case eventually went cold, leaving family and friends without answers and a community searching for justice.
Years later, the investigation into the murder of Brandon Jamar Goodson remains open and is now in the hands of the Richland County Sheriff's Department's Cold Case Unit.
