education with the goal of obtaining her master's degree. She was a cherished member of her community in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and an active participant in her church.
On January 9, 2017, the tranquility of a Moore neighborhood was shattered when a neighbor discovered the bodies of Joanne and her 57-year-old husband, Anthony Huston, inside their Serendipity Lane home. Both had sustained gunshot wounds. While Anthony was pronounced dead at the scene, Joanne was rushed to Spartanburg Regional Hospital, where she ultimately succumbed to her injuries. The Spartanburg County Coroner's Office later confirmed that the incident was an apparent murder-suicide, with Anthony Huston as the perpetrator.
