Kyre Raquan Bethea, a 19-year-old from Sumter, South Carolina, tragically lost his life on January 26, 2017. The incident occurred on Somerset Drive around 6:50 p.m. when Bethea was shot in the chest. According to the Sumter County Sheriff's Office, Bethea and a 17-year-old named Rhythm Portee were playing a game with a handgun when it accidentally discharged, striking Bethea. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Bethea succumbed to his injuries.
