In the early evening of May 30, 2017, in Lexington, South Carolina, a violent encounter cut short the life of 35-year-old Derrick James Jones. Responding to a call at approximately 5:15 p.m., deputies from the Lexington County Sheriff's Department arrived at the 100 block of South Hampton Road in the Red Bank area to find Jones suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
