A simmering dispute tragically escalated, leading to the death of 25-year-old Daeshawn Shahree Brown in Spartanburg, South Carolina. On the evening of February 18, 2018, Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a call at the Summit Pointe apartments. Upon their arrival, they discovered Brown's body in the breezeway of a building. He had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the chest.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a domestic-related conflict.
Evidence and witness accounts led authorities to identify Jonathan E. Gentry as the suspect. Investigators determined that the altercation stemmed from a dispute involving an ex-girlfriend of Gentry's who was in a new relationship with Brown.
Following the investigation, Jonathan E. Gentry was arrested and charged with the murder of Daeshawn Shahree Brown. He was also charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Gentry was subsequently booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center to await legal proceedings.
