Jamyia Smith, an 18-year-old from Moncks Corner, South Carolina, was found dead in a home on James Island on January 3, 2019. The Charleston County Coroner confirmed that she died from a gunshot wound, and her death was immediately treated as a homicide by the Charleston Police Department.
