In the early evening of January 7, 2019, tragedy struck in Aiken, South Carolina, ending the life of 36-year-old Marcus Jermaine Simpkins. A Black male, Simpkins was found suffering from at least one gunshot wound in the parking lot of Bea's Club on Edgefield Highway. The Aiken County Coroner's Office reported that the call came in at approximately 8:42 p.m. Emergency services rushed Simpkins to Aiken Regional Medical Center, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
