In the early morning hours of January 26, 2020, a scene of chaos and violence erupted at Mac's Lounge, a nightclub on Camden Avenue in Hartsville, South Carolina, forever altering the lives of many. Inside the crowded venue, where about 200 people were gathered, gunfire suddenly rang out, causing panic as patrons scrambled for safety. When the shooting ceased, 21-year-old Dicaprio Collins was among the deceased, his life cut tragically short.
Another man, 29-year-old Bryan Robinson, was also killed at the scene, and four other individuals were wounded. An eighteenth victim, Garrett Bakhsh, a Coker University student, succumbed to his injuries two days later.
The investigation that followed the deadly shooting involved the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and the U.S. Marshals Service assisting the Hartsville Police Department. Their efforts led to the identification and arrest of three suspects. Darius Grant Dickey, 20 years old at the time, was taken into custody and faced a multitude of charges, including attempted murder. Another suspect, 24-year-old Davijon Kahlil McCall, was arrested in Durham, North Carolina, and was charged with two counts of murder along with several other weapons-related offenses. A third individual, Antonio Verell Mills, was also implicated and charged with criminal conspiracy in connection with the incident.
The senseless violence of that night sent shockwaves through the Hartsville community, leaving friends and families to mourn the sudden and tragic loss of their loved ones.
