In the summer of 2020, the life of 33-year-old Deyarian Nikali Clement Abercrombie was tragically cut short in Greenville, South Carolina. A United States Marine Corps veteran and a dedicated security officer, Abercrombie was fatally shot in the early hours of Sunday, June 14, 2020. The incident that led to his untimely death unfolded at a local nightclub where he was on duty.
The evening's events took a grim turn when a dispute arose, leading to a male patron being asked to leave the
establishment. This individual, later identified as Jermaine Stefano Martin, complied with the request. However, the situation escalated dramatically when Martin allegedly returned to the premises shortly after and opened fire. Abercrombie, in the line of his duty, was struck by the gunfire. Despite being rushed to Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
In the wake of the shooting, the Greenville Police Department launched an intensive investigation. Their efforts quickly led to the identification of a suspect. On Monday, June 15, 2020, Jermaine Stefano Martin was taken into custody. Following his arrest, he was charged with the murder of Deyarian Abercrombie.
