On a tragic day in Graniteville, South Carolina, the lives of two individuals were cut short in a violent encounter that would soon reveal a familial connection. Robert A. Finch, a 51-year-old male, was killed on September 12, 2020, a victim of a double homicide. The second victim in the incident was identified as 43-year-old Lacy Boyd.
In the wake of the double homicide, investigators with the Aiken County Sheriff's Office began the work of piecing together the events that led to the
deaths of Finch and Boyd. Their attention soon turned to a single suspect, a man who was not a stranger to one of the victims. Law enforcement identified the suspect as Robert Finch's own brother.
While the initial shock of a man being a suspect in his own brother's death reverberated through the community, the investigation proceeded. The Aiken County Sheriff's Office took the suspect into custody in connection with the double homicide. He was subsequently charged with two counts of murder for the deaths of Robert A. Finch and Lacy Boyd, as well as a charge of possession of a weapon during a violent crime. The case was then set to move through the judicial system for prosecution.
