In the quiet, early morning hours of September 24, 2020, a sudden burst of violence shattered the peace inside a home on Hood Street in Lancaster, South Carolina, leaving a young man dead. Shamon White, a 26-year-old male, was asleep in his bed with his girlfriend when they were jolted awake by a figure standing at the foot of their bed around 3 a.m.
The intruder, identified as 24-year-old Quinterious Raquon Truesdale, opened fire on White.
In a desperate act of self-preservation, the mortally wounded Shamon White managed to return fire, striking Truesdale. When police arrived at the home, they found both men suffering from gunshot wounds. White was pronounced dead at the scene, having been shot several times. Truesdale, seriously injured, was airlifted to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
Following the incident, the Lancaster Police Department swiftly moved forward with their investigation. Warrants were issued for Quinterious Truesdale, charging him with murder, first-degree burglary, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. In June 2022, the case against Truesdale came to a close. A jury found him guilty on all charges, and a judge sentenced him to life in prison for the murder of Shamon White.
