On the evening of June 7, 2021, the quiet, rural community of Islandton, South Carolina, was shattered by a brutal crime that would capture national attention. Margaret 'Maggie' Kennedy Branstetter Murdaugh, a 52-year-old Caucasian female, was found shot to death alongside her youngest son, Paul. The grim discovery was made by her husband, Richard Alexander 'Alex' Murdaugh, at their sprawling hunting estate known as Moselle.
