In the early morning hours of June 12, 2021, the quiet community of Blackville, South Carolina, was shaken by the untimely death of TyQueyveon Jaheim Badger, a 19-year-old Black male known affectionately to his friends and family as "TJ." A lifelong resident of the area, TJ was remembered as a spirited and kind-hearted young man who had graduated from Blackville-Hilda High School just a year prior in 2020.
He was employed at a local KFC in nearby Barnwell, where his warm smile and infectious laugh made him a favorite among colleagues and customers. Raised by his legal guardians, along with a close-knit network of biological family members, he was viewed as a promising individual with his entire life ahead of him.
Tragedy struck shortly after midnight when local authorities received reports of a shooting within the Blackville city limits. Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers discovered Badger suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.
