Death by Force

Rakel Howard, an 18-year-old male who was Black/African American, was killed in Blackville, South Carolina, just after midnight on June 21, 2025. Officers were dispatched around 2:10 a.m. to the area of Davis Street and Oak Avenue; they found Rakel Howard unresponsive in a backyard on Oak Avenue, and despite efforts to help, he died from his injuries. The Barnwell County Coroner identified him, and authorities noted the fatal wounds were from gunfire.
