In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Newberry, South Carolina, a dispute between neighbors over a dog escalated into a fatal encounter. Errick E. Walker, a 36-year-old male, was shot and killed on December 26, 2021. The incident occurred at a mobile home park on Kali Street, where Walker and the alleged shooter resided. County Sheriff's deputies discovered Walker in a backyard with a gunshot wound to his chest. Despite the efforts of the first responding deputy to administer CPR and other life-saving measures until EMS arrived, Walker succumbed to his injuries. The investigation led to the swift arrest of Walker's neighbor, 38-year-old Jerod Johnathan Blake. According to the Sheriff's Office, the argument began over an issue concerning a dog.
