In the early morning hours of July 6, Myrtle Beach police officers responded to reports of multiple gunshots. While en route to the scene, they discovered a car that had crashed. Behind the wheel was Joshua Wilson, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital for treatment but ultimately succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, July 10, 2022. The Horry County Coroner's Office later confirmed that his death was a homicide resulting from the shooting.
The investigation into the shooting led police to identify a suspect, Quentin Ahmad Jean, a 35-year-old resident of Myrtle Beach. Jean was arrested and initially charged with attempted murder. Following Wilson's death, the charges against him were upgraded to murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He was taken into custody and booked at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
In the months that followed, the legal process against Quentin Ahmad Jean began to unfold.
