In a tragic turn of events, 34-year-old Sabrina Jackson, a White female from Gaston, South Carolina, died on August 1, 2022, days after being shot by her estranged husband. The incident unfolded on July 26, 2022, at a business located in the 400 block of Ermine Road in West Columbia. Sabrina sustained a single gunshot wound to the abdomen during the encounter.
Emergency services transported Sabrina to Prisma Health Richland Hospital, where she ultimately succumbed to her injuries.
Her estranged husband, 45-year-old Philip Calvin Jackson of Lexington, was identified as the shooter. After shooting Sabrina, he turned the weapon on himself and died at the scene from multiple self-inflicted gunshot wounds.
The Lexington County Sheriff's Department investigated the shooting, confirming that it was an isolated incident with no threat to the public and that they were not searching for any other suspects. The motive for the shooting has not been released, and it is unclear why the couple was at the business on Ermine Road. Sabrina was a graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School and had a degree in Medical Assisting from Remington College. She was a mother to three children.
