Richard Delaney, a 29-year-old probationary police officer with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, tragically lost his life on June 15, 1901. Officer Delaney had been with the police force for only ten months when he was fatally shot while attempting to arrest a man who had threatened his wife.
