On the afternoon of January 2, 1932, a violent confrontation known as the Young Brothers Massacre unfolded at a farmhouse near Brookline, just outside of Springfield, Missouri. The incident claimed the life of Greene County Sheriff Marcell C. Hendrix, a 44-year-old White male who had served in his position for exactly three years.
