Gregory J. Erson, a 29-year-old detective with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, tragically lost his life on June 19, 1980. Detective Erson was working undercover on a prostitution detail in an area known as "The Stroll" when he was fatally shot during a robbery attempt.
