On the afternoon of July 28, 2025, fire crews rushed to a two-story home on the 2600 block of McCrae in New Braunfels. The heat inside was so fierce—flames had pushed into the subfloor between the first and second stories—that firefighters shifted to an external attack before re-entering. When the smoke settled and they searched the house, they found 37-year-old Kennedy Miguel Herrejon, a male and Hispanic/Latino, deceased inside.
