On the early morning of January 28, 1987, a violent confrontation unfolded at the Northland Shopping Center in Jennings, Missouri. Officers were responding to a silent alarm that had been triggered at the Dandy Man's Store located near West Florissant Avenue and Lucas & Hunt Road. Upon arrival, a patrol sergeant discovered a smashed display window, indicating a burglary in progress. He successfully surprised a group of intruders who were in the midst of the crime.
