On June 2, 2008, White male Tony LaChance, aged 17, was tragically killed in Lemay, a community within St. Louis County, Missouri. The incident occurred in the early morning hours, approximately around 2:15 a.m., while the teenager was walking along the 400 block of Hoffmeister Avenue. Reports indicate that LaChance was alone at the time of the confrontation that led to his death.
According to police accounts, a Ford Explorer drove past LaChance before turning around and pulling over
near him. An unidentified man exited the SUV and approached the victim, shooting him twice. The assailant then briefly returned to the vehicle before pausing, walking back to LaChance, and firing a third shot. After the final shot, the shooter returned to the Ford Explorer and fled the scene. LaChance’s body was discovered early the following morning.
Despite an ongoing investigation by the St. Louis County Police Department, the case remains unsolved. Witnesses reported seeing a 1990s Chevrolet Trailblazer driving down nearby Lagro Street on two occasions in the week leading up to the murder, though its direct connection to the crime remains a point of interest. Surveillance footage from the area captured images of a suspect described as a man with a thin to medium build and dark hair, dressed in an oversized hoodie and baggy pants. To date, no arrests have been made, and authorities continue to seek information from the public that could lead to a conviction.
