In the spring of 2012, the life of 34-year-old Keith Mosely of Columbia, Missouri, was tragically cut short in a violent encounter in Jefferson City. On the evening of April 22nd, what began as a drug transaction devolved into a fatal shooting. The events of that night would unravel a story of a robbery gone wrong and lead to the eventual imprisonment of multiple individuals.
The investigation into Mosely's death quickly pointed to a planned robbery.
Authorities identified three men, Brandon Chase, Khiry Summers, and Tracy Session, as the primary suspects. The prosecution's case laid out a scenario where the trio had arranged to meet Mosely under the pretense of a marijuana deal, but their actual intent was to rob him. During this confrontation, a struggle ensued, and Mosely was shot and killed.
The wheels of justice began to turn for the men responsible for Mosely's death. Tracy Session was the first to be held accountable, pleading guilty in November 2012 for his part in the deadly robbery. He was subsequently sentenced to a 20-year prison term. Brandon Chase's path to conviction was more complex. His initial trial in March 2013 resulted in a hung jury, unable to reach a unanimous verdict. However, the prosecution pursued a second trial, and in June 2013, a jury found Chase guilty of second-degree murder, first-degree robbery, and armed criminal action. The third suspect, Khiry Summers, was slated to have his day in court in July 2013. In a further development, another man connected to the crime, Jajuan L. Story, also faced charges. In 2014, Story entered a guilty plea to second-degree murder and armed criminal action for his involvement. He was handed a 13-year prison sentence for his role in the events that led to the untimely death of Keith Mosely.
