On January 1, 2017, the life of 23-year-old male Quonterio Davis was cut short in Jefferson City, Missouri. He had been attending a New Year's party that evening when the celebration turned violent. Authorities responded to the scene following reports of a shooting, marking a tragic start to the new year for the local community. Davis, a resident of Jefferson City at the time of his passing, was identified as the victim of the fatal gunfire.
Investigators quickly focused their attention
on a suspect who was also present at the gathering. It was determined that 26-year-old Jeffery Millens was at the same party and had allegedly engaged in a confrontation with the victim. Law enforcement officials and prosecutors later revealed that the two men shared a personal connection that may have fueled the dispute, noting that both Davis and Millens had children with the same woman. This underlying tension reportedly escalated during the holiday festivities, resulting in Millens shooting and killing Davis.
The legal proceedings against Jeffery Millens concluded several years later in January 2021. Millens was found guilty of second-degree murder for the death of Quonterio Davis. A judge sentenced him to life in prison for the murder charge. In addition to the life sentence, Millens received a consecutive ten-year sentence for armed criminal action and another ten-year sentence for the unlawful possession of a firearm. The court ordered that these additional sentences be served only after the completion of his life term.
