On August 9, 2013, a violent double homicide occurred in the north St. Louis neighborhood of the 4200 block of East Kossuth Avenue. Franchelle Devon Harris, a 26-year-old female resident of the area, was inside a home that evening along with several other individuals. The incident began around 8:45 p.m. when 27-year-old Brian Jermon answered a knock at the front door.
Upon opening the door, Jermon was immediately confronted by an unidentified male suspect who opened fire.
Jermon sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the neck and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. The assailant continued firing into the residence, striking Harris in the back. She was also transported to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Two other individuals present at the scene, a 22-year-old female and a 29-year-old male, suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to the buttocks and leg, respectively.
Following the shooting, the suspect fled the scene and evaded immediate capture. Law enforcement launched an investigation into the murders, seeking to identify the gunman responsible for the deaths of Harris and Jermon. Despite these efforts, reports indicate that the case has remained unsolved for years, with no arrests made in connection with the double homicide. The suspect was described only as an unidentified male, and authorities have not publicly released further details regarding his identity or whereabouts.
