Donald Christopher Sorrels, a 32-year-old man from Imperial, Missouri, died on February 10, 2014, from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head. The incident occurred following a standoff with Jefferson County sheriff's deputies.
The situation began when deputies attempted to serve a warrant on Sorrels. This led to a confrontation that escalated into a standoff between Sorrels and law enforcement. During the course of events, Sorrels barricaded himself inside a residence.
