James Funk, a 31-year-old from Mascoutah, Illinois, tragically lost his life on November 17, 2014, in an accidental shooting incident while deer hunting in Knox County, Missouri. The incident occurred around 2 p.m. on a farm southeast of Novelty, Missouri. Funk was part of a hunting group that included his uncle, David Wheeler, 54, also from Illinois. During the hunt, the group was participating in a deer drive when Wheeler accidentally shot Funk while aiming at a deer.
