In the autumn of 2015, the life of 23-year-old Marcus O'Neal Hurst was tragically cut short in a violent encounter stemming from a drug transaction. A Black male from St. Louis, Missouri, Hurst was fatally shot on October 10, 2015. His death was the subject of a homicide investigation that quickly focused on a suspect from the nearby community of Glendale.
According to authorities, the incident unfolded in Kirkwood, a suburb of St. Louis, where Hurst had arranged to meet for a drug deal.
The man he met was later identified as Torre R. Stockett. During the course of the transaction, an altercation occurred, which resulted in Stockett allegedly shooting Hurst. Following the shooting, Hurst was transported to Mercy Hospital where he was pronounced dead on October 15, 2015.
