On October 27, 2015, law enforcement officials in Pagedale, a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri, were alerted to a violent incident involving Mario Ewing Jr., a 23-year-old Black male. Authorities were called to the scene in the afternoon to assist local officers after reports of a shooting surfaced in the area. Upon their arrival, first responders discovered the young man lying in the street, having sustained critical injuries during the assault.
Ewing had been targeted by gunfire and was
struck multiple times, with specific wounds inflicted to his back and legs. Emergency medical personnel rapidly attended to him at the scene before transporting him to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment. Despite the efforts of medical staff to save his life, he succumbed to the severity of his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival at the medical facility.
The investigation was subsequently handled by the St. Louis County Police Department, which stepped in to assist the Pagedale officers with the homicide case. Detectives canvassed the neighborhood and sought information regarding the circumstances that led to the shooting.
