On the afternoon of October 22, 2020, a violent encounter in the Greater Ville neighborhood of St. Louis claimed the life of a local student. Ezell Johnson III, a 15-year-old male, was sitting in the back seat of a vehicle on the 4200 block of East Ashland Avenue when he was ambushed. Just after 1:00 p.m., a gunman approached the car and opened fire, striking the ninth-grader multiple times.
