The fatal incident occurred in North St. Louis, where Eason was gunned down, marking another violent loss for the community. Homicide detectives were immediately dispatched to the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting, which left family and friends in a state of shock and mourning.
Lee Eason, affectionately known to those close
to him by the nicknames '2 tutu,' 'duce duce,' and '3 tutu,' was a father and a former student of Beaumont High School. He was the son of Tracy Eason and Lee Thomas. His untimely death left behind a grieving family, including his three sons, Ishom, Shawn, and Travell. He was also survived by his grandmother, June, his sisters Tiara and Jazmine, his brothers Jarmaine and Jamond, and a special friend, Shaneick. The loss was deeply felt by his wide circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who remembered him fondly.
In the wake of the shooting, the community and law enforcement sought justice for the slaying. Approximately one month after the murder, in May 2016, authorities reported a significant development in the case. His profile on a national gun violence memorial has since been lit with over one hundred virtual candles, symbolizing the enduring impact of his absence on those who knew him.
