Corey Seibel, a 27-year-old man from Uniontown, OH, tragically died on November 8, 2015, after being shot multiple times in the torso at his residence in Green, OH. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. at his apartment in the 2700 block of Long Road. Seibel's death was ruled a homicide by the Summit County medical examiner.
Following Seibel's death, an investigation was launched, leading to the arrest of Spencer A. Sims, a 22-year-old man from Medina, OH.
Sims was charged with complicity to aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony. The investigation revealed that Sims and his co-defendants, Trent Turner and Ty’Shawn Henderson, had planned to rob Seibel of marijuana. During the robbery, Turner shot Seibel multiple times, resulting in his death.
In August 2017, Trent Turner was found guilty of murder and several other charges related to Seibel's death. Turner received a guilty verdict on one count of murder with a gun specification, three counts of aggravated robbery with gun specifications, two counts of aggravated burglary with gun specifications, two counts of felonious assault with gun specifications, one count of grand theft with a gun specification, one count of trespass in a habitation with a gun specification, one count of having a weapon under disability, and one count of carrying a concealed weapon. Turner's co-defendants, Sims and Henderson, pled guilty to their involvement in the robbery and received prison sentences.
The case highlighted the dangers associated with drug-related activities and the severe consequences that can result from such criminal behavior. Seibel's death was a tragic outcome of a robbery gone wrong, and the legal proceedings that followed brought some measure of justice for his family and friends.
