Cory Goodwin, aged 38, was tragically killed on August 7, 2016, in St. Louis, Missouri. The incident occurred in the apartment of Huston Martin IV, who was also a victim in the same event. The perpetrator, Miquis Crumble, was initially charged with first-degree murder but later accepted a plea deal, reducing the charges to second-degree murder. Crumble admitted to fatally shooting both Huston Martin IV and Cory Goodwin, as well as wounding Martin's brother, Clinton Martin.
