On the morning of April 3, 2017, law enforcement officials in Raytown, Missouri, a suburb within the Kansas City metropolitan area, responded to a distress call regarding a shooting. Around 8:15 a.m., officers arrived at the Raytown Village Apartments located in the 7700 block of Raytown Road. upon their arrival, they discovered a male victim who had sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound.

The victim was identified as Jarron Floyd, a 34-year-old Black male who was a resident of Raytown. Emergency medical personnel transported him from the scene to a local hospital for urgent treatment.
