In a tragic and unforeseen turn of events, a 34-year-old man, Charles Petty, lost his life in his own home. He was a Black / African American male. On the morning of April 19, 2017, in St. Louis, Missouri, Petty was in his basement apartment with his girlfriend when a single gunshot suddenly pierced through the wall from the adjacent unit. The bullet struck Petty in the head, critically injuring him. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency medical treatment.
