The investigation into the shooting led police to Anton Hunter, a 19-year-old man. According to court records, Hunter was the passenger in a car driven by his girlfriend. She told investigators that shortly before the shooting, she and Hunter had been arguing over french fries. She did not know why he suddenly started shooting at the car beside them. Following the shooting, the vehicle Hunter was in sped away and was involved in a crash. An occupant of the suspect's vehicle was taken into custody. In September of that year, prosecutors charged Anton Hunter with second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon, and armed criminal action in Isabell's death. However, Hunter remained at large for a period, prompting public pleas from Isabell's family for his surrender.
Isabell was remembered by her family as a vibrant and driven young woman who had recently moved into her own apartment and was studying to become a nurse. Known as 'Bella' to her friends and family, she was the oldest of five siblings and was described as a caring and outspoken individual who looked after her younger siblings. She enjoyed dancing and taking selfies and was a member of the Marching Cobras. She had graduated from Job Corps at the age of 16 after attending Turner High School, where she played soccer. Her family, who had experienced a tragic loss in a house fire years earlier, was left to grieve another senseless death.
In August 2019, Anton Hunter, then 21, pleaded guilty to the fatal shooting of Isabell Addison. As part of a plea agreement, he was sentenced in October 2019 to 25 years in prison. The judge sentenced him to 25 years for the murder conviction, with shorter sentences for the other charges to be served concurrently. The resolution of the legal case brought a measure of closure to a tragedy that had been initiated by a seemingly trivial argument, leading to the untimely death of a young woman with a promising future.
