On a summer day in Kansas City, Missouri, the life of a vibrant and ambitious 25-year-old Black woman, Destiny Aigner Weaver, was tragically cut short. On June 2, 2017, Weaver was discovered inside a vehicle at Tower Park in the Waldo neighborhood, the victim of a fatal shooting.
Known for her infectious smile and captivating presence, Destiny was a graduate of Center High School's class of 2010. She had pursued higher education at Langston University in Oklahoma, studying Forensic Science and maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA. An entrepreneur at heart, she was the creator and owner of Fonk'd OWT Tees and Wigz Split Hair Designs. She was also a dedicated summer youth counselor and had held various customer service positions. Her passions included modeling, hairstyling, and singing.
The investigation into her death began promptly, with law enforcement officials processing the scene at Tower Park, located near East 76th Street and Holmes Road. Despite their efforts and public appeals for information, the case has grown cold. No suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with her murder.
In the years following her death, Destiny's family and friends have been left with unanswered questions and a profound sense of loss. The Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers and the Kansas City Police Department have sought help from the public, at one point increasing the reward for any information that could lead to an arrest. Still, the case remains unsolved, a painful open chapter for a community that remembers a young woman full of life and promise.
