On the night of August 17, 2017, a violent confrontation unfolded in Independence, Missouri, resulting in the untimely death of 33-year-old Christopher L. King. Officers from the Independence Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 1500 block of South Pearl Street just before 11:00 p.m. following reports of a shooting.
