An unsettling quiet hung in the air on a late Wednesday evening in Independence, Missouri, a quiet that was soon to be broken by the sound of gunfire. On May 18, 2022, the life of 18-year-old Khristian Wright was tragically cut short. Police were initially called to the area of East 39th and South Lynn streets shortly before 10 p.m. following reports of shots fired. Before they could arrive at that location, another call came in, this one directing them to a grim discovery a few blocks away.
