An unsettling quiet hung in the air on a late Wednesday evening in Independence, Missouri, a quiet that was soon to be broken by the sound of gunfire. On May 18, 2022, the life of 18-year-old Khristian Wright was tragically cut short. Police were initially called to the area of East 39th and South Lynn streets shortly before 10 p.m. following reports of shots fired.
