On October 29, 2023, 30-year-old Mario Anthony Batrez and his 23-year-old brother, Adonis Knight, were fatally shot in their home in Independence, Missouri. The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. in the 21100 block of East 50th Terrace Drive South. Police responded to a 911 call from the brothers' mother, who reported that her husband had shot her two sons. Upon arrival, officers found Batrez and Knight deceased in the kitchen, each with multiple gunshot wounds.
