Floyd Duane Shirk, aged 84, passed away on October 10, 2017, in Joplin, Missouri. Born on April 18, 1933, in the Greenwood area just south of Joplin, Floyd grew up in Webb City. He was the seventh of eight children born to Alfred V. and Ollie S. (Kelley) Shirk. Floyd attended Eugene Field Elementary School and graduated from Webb City High School in 1952. He later became a teacher, a profession he pursued until his retirement.
