In the autumn of 2017, a life was tragically cut short in a trailer park in Independence, Missouri. On the afternoon of Saturday, October 28th, shots rang out in the 12800 block of East 47th Street, leaving two people wounded. One of the victims, 29-year-old Brandan Ray Brown, succumbed to his injuries.
Witnesses at the scene described a man fleeing in a red 1995 Camaro. The Independence Police Department quickly launched an investigation, identifying 31-year-old Jerome T.
Roberson of Kansas City as a person of interest. As law enforcement searched for Roberson, they located the unoccupied Camaro.
The search for Roberson came to an end on a Saturday night in November when he was arrested at a home in Kansas City. Following his arrest, Jerome Roberson was charged with two counts of second-degree murder and armed criminal action. One of these charges was for the death of Brandan Ray Brown. The second charge stemmed from the fatal shooting of another man, Michael Cantwell, which occurred in Kansas City just days after Brown's death, on November 2nd. Prosecutors sought a $500,000 bond for each homicide case.
