In the early morning hours of December 22, 2017, a tragic event unfolded in the Fairgrounds neighborhood of North St. Louis that claimed the lives of three young women, including 25-year-old Reeba Moore, an African-American female. The incident began as a home invasion at a residence in the 4200 block of John Avenue. Moore, along with her friends Dominique Lewis, 24, and Chanice White, 24, were inside the home when two unidentified men broke in.
In a desperate attempt to escape the
intruders, the three women and another man fled the house. As Moore, Lewis, and White sought refuge in Moore's blue Buick LeSabre parked outside, the gunmen opened fire on the vehicle. The assailants used firearms of different calibers, and all three women were fatally shot inside the car. The man who was with them managed to escape and was not injured. St. Louis Police responded to a call for a burglary in progress just after 3 a.m., which was quickly followed by a call for shots fired. Upon arrival, they discovered the tragic scene and the three deceased women.
In the years that have followed, the triple homicide remains unsolved, and no arrests have been made. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department has described the suspects as two African-American men who were wearing dark clothing at the time of the incident. Despite public pleas from the victims' families and the offering of a significant reward of up to $15,000 by CrimeStoppers for information leading to an arrest, the case has grown cold. The families of Reeba Moore, Dominique Lewis, and Chanice White have been left to grieve without a sense of closure, as the perpetrators of this violent act remain at large. The case is still an open investigation, with law enforcement continuing to seek new leads to bring justice to the victims and their loved ones.
