In the O'Fallon neighborhood of St. Louis, a tragic series of events unfolded on December 22, 2020, leading to the death of 21-year-old Jameyah Ramsey. What began as a planned drug deal escalated into a fatal robbery, ending a young life in a moment of violence.
That morning, shortly before 10 a.m. on the 2100 block of E. Alice Avenue, Ramsey's boyfriend had arranged to sell narcotics.
The other party to the deal was 35-year-old Eugene James Times, who arrived with an accomplice, both masked and at least one of them armed. Their intention was not to complete a transaction, but to rob Ramsey's boyfriend. When they confronted him outside his residence and demanded his belongings, he refused and attempted to flee back inside.
At that exact moment, Jameyah Ramsey was exiting the home. As her boyfriend tried to escape, Times fired a shot in his direction. The bullet missed its intended target and struck Ramsey in the back, inflicting a fatal wound. Her boyfriend was also injured in the shooting. First responders found both individuals shot, and Ramsey was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into Ramsey's death was captured on surveillance video. Nearly ten months later, on October 16, 2021, Eugene James Times was arrested in connection with her murder. Authorities reported that Times admitted to his role in the shooting, stating that the plan was to rob Ramsey's boyfriend and that he shot Ramsey in the process. Court records indicated that Times had called the boyfriend minutes before the robbery. He was subsequently charged with second-degree murder for Jameyah Ramsey's death. At the time of his arrest, Times was also facing charges related to a recent burglary and a separate robbery from 2018.
