In the spring of 2018, the life of 27-year-old Javonte Roy, a Black male, was tragically cut short in Columbia, Missouri. On the evening of April 3rd, police were called to a residence on Bodie Drive where they discovered Roy suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries, leaving a community to grapple with the sudden and violent loss.
