In the late hours of a Friday night in Kansas City, Missouri, a dispute inside a 7-Eleven convenience store tragically escalated, leading to the death of 26-year-old Norez R. Brock on April 27, 2018. The aspiring musician's life was cut short following a fatal encounter with another man.
The incident began with a verbal argument between Brock and Theodist A. Lewis, 31, inside the store located on Blue Ridge Boulevard.
Surveillance footage from the establishment captured the initial confrontation. After the argument, Lewis was seen leaving the store, going to a vehicle, and then returning to wait for Brock.
As Brock exited the 7-Eleven, Lewis confronted him again, and the altercation turned deadly when Lewis shot Brock from a close distance. After the shooting, Lewis fled the scene in his vehicle. Emergency services were called, and Brock was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to Lewis as the primary suspect. Police released a photo of him to the public, which led to a crucial tip. The following night, authorities located Lewis at a residence, where he was found hiding in a closet. He was reportedly wearing clothing that matched the description of the shooter from the surveillance video, and there was blood on his shirt. A black zip-up hoodie that also matched the video evidence was discovered behind the house.
Following his arrest, Theodist A. Lewis was charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with the death of Norez Brock. Prosecutors requested a cash bond of $250,000.
